The Brief
SuperSport Competitions realised a 9-5 job wasn’t for them and asked us to create one of our popular competition websites to set them up for success. They needed a custom referral system to boost entries, advanced analytics and support with the SEO of the website. So, we got to work!

The Challenge
Competition websites in general come with more challenges that we have learnt to overcome, but still take time and effort.
Firstly, working with a payment provider is tough. The ideal project would be just you and the client. 3rd parties mean more meetings and deliverables.
Also, since the website is involved in more critical business operations than our corporate websites would be, its a challenge to ensure the website has minimal bugs on launch day.

Our Task
To begin, it’s always best to introduce the client to our partner payment platform and solicitors. This is optional, however we recommend opting to work with them as they are very familiar with competition businesses.
Once we have discussed all the requirements and functionality the website will need, design and development begin. For SuperSport Competitions, we created a bespoke ticket quantity selector and referral system, which took up a decent chunk of develoment time.
To overcome the challenge of potential bugs on launch day we go through a series of testing phases to ensure the website is fully functional and ready for the first competition. We complete this alongside the payment provider to ensure transactions are functioning as expected too.
Finally, we optimised the website to reach as many people as possible. Focussing on long-tail keywords to stand out in a competitive industry. Also, we did local SEO optimisation to try and entice customers from the local area to enter into the competitions.


The Results
The results we provided from the website and bespoke software implementation were outstanding. Our referral software contributed to 10% of orders which is around 6% higher than the industry average. Also, with 95% of users buying multiple tickets it lead to increased success for SuperSport Competitions. Mick was impressed with the website and has opted for our premium support plan going forward.
